The
paintings of Savignac must not be approached with the idea that one must understand
something, understand why such a form is like it is and not otherwise, why
it is inserted inside another. Let us allow them simply to appear to us in
all their complexity because they speak to us of themselves. Let us dive into
their restrained violence, in their rythmic dance, into these sustained and
concentrated colours. In this way, émotions can be born and reponses
made to this 'unknown'. The picture spaces are both open and closed, animated
or frozen, exact but nevertheless réceptive to diverse interprétation,
and also act as stimuli. Like this work where a thousand eyes seem to observe
us through the chaos, like this other one where a face cut in half appears
from the conjonction of two shapes, like this use of pure white which brings
a breathing space, which integrates the empty and the full.
